Yunnan Province locates in the most southwest of China on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, spanning approximately 394,000 square kilometers. It is renowned for its brilliant landscape, tender climate, and also noted for a very high level of ethnic diversity.
The province borders Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province in the east, Sichuan Province in the north, and Tibet Autonomous Region in the northwest. Many mountains and valleys are spectacular. The marvelous geologic wonder, three parallel rivers, can be seen here. At the foot of the snow mountain there are grasslands and lakes, which is as beautiful as fairy wings' treasure land.
Among the country's 56 recognized ethnic groups, 26 are found living harmoniously in Yunnan, including the Bai, Naxi, Tibetan, Lisu, Yi, Mosuo people and so on. Today, they still keep their unique living style and various traditions. Their colorful and traditional-fashioned clothes, folk music and dance make a magnificent both rural and suburban lives. And the fairs and holidays are various and colorful such as the Pouring Water’s Day for Dai People, March Street Day for Bai people, bolsos de lujo imitacion and Torch Festival Day for Yi people, which are all attractive and distinctive.
Dali, the capital city of Yunnan, boasts a long history. It is once the capital of the ancient Dali Kingdom and consequently it is called the historical and cultural city.
