19-day's tour with following route: Peking (3N) - Xi'an (1N) - Lhasa (2N) - Gyantse - Shigatse (1N) - Lhasa (1N) - Chengdu (1N) - Guilin (2N) - Chongqing - Yangzi-Cruise (3N) - Sandouping - Wuhan - Shanghai (2N) - Suzhou - Shanghai (1N) During this journey you get to know some of the most important sights in China: the Great Wall, the Forbidden City in Peking, the Terracotta-Army in Xi'an, Tibet the place of origin for Tibetan Buddhism (Lamaism), the Three Gorges while sailing on Yangzi River, the Karst miracles in Guilin, Shanghai the biggest city in China as well as Hong Kong the "Pearl of the East". Itinerary: Day01 Flight to Peking Day02 Peking 3N in 3*Taiwan hotel In the morning greeted in the airport and transfer to hotel to have a rest. In the afternoon free. Day03 Peking B/L Stroll in the Tian An Men square, which is probably the biggest one of its kind in the world. Then go to visit Forbidden city (Gugong) the emperor's palace which was built between 1406 and 1420 with 9000 halls and rooms, containing many precious relics. Facing south and rising from a terrace, the largest palace in the world represents the supreme power and authority emperors enjoyed during the feudalistic dynasties as well as best exemplifies the elements of palace architecture. In the afternoon visit Summer Palace which was built in 1153 in northwest of Peking. I t is an outstanding example of imperial gardens in classical Chinese style, housing tens of thousands of precious cultural relics. Day04 Peking B/L/D After the breakfast go to the Great Wall, one of the eight ancient wonders of the world and the only man-made construction on earth that the astronauts can see in the moon. Starting out in the east on the banks of Yalu River in Liaoning Province, the Wall stretches westwards for 12,700 kilometers to Jiayuguan in the Gobi Desert. It was built as a defensive structure and gradually become the symbol of the ancient Chinese civilization. Then visit the Ming Tombs, which is a group of mausoleums of 13 Ming emperors and their empresses and concubines. Two of the toms are opens to the public. The most famous is the Dingling, an underground palace. As an saying goes "Who is in Peking and has never eaten Peking-duck, he has not ever been in Peking". In the evening enjoy the famous specialty: Peking-duck. Day05 Peking - Xi'an flight 0735/0915 CA1215 1N in 4*Royal Nikko hotel B/L Early in the morning transfer to Peking airport and then fly to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province. In the morning visit the Museum of Terracotta-Army where three underground vaults open to the public, displaying thousands of life-sized terra-cotta warriors, horses and chariots, all arranged in battle formation of that time. Besides, visit Da Yan Ta (Big-Wild-Goose-Pagoda), which was allowed to establish in 650 by Li Zhi, an emperor of Tang Dynasty. Day06 Xi'an - Lhasa flight 0915/1305 SZ4217 2N in 3*Shambala hotel B In the morning transfer to airport flying to Lhasa (3650 m). After the arrival in Gongga airport, transfer to the city proper of Lhasa. In the afternoon rest in hotel for acclimatization. Day07 Lhasa B/L In the morning visit Potala, which was constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet and later served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas. Another aim is Dralha Lhupuk (meditation cave) where Pelden Lhamo, the goddess of protection is enshrined. In the afternoon visit Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Walk on the Barkhor street nearby Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties. Then drive to Norbulingka, which means the garden of treasures in Tibetan language. Located in the west suburbs of Lhasa, this palace complex was built in the 18th century and served as the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas. Day08 Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse 260 + 90 km 1N in 3*Shigatse hotel B/L Pass by the Yamdrok-Tso Lake, the third-biggest holy lake in Tibet and a good place for taking photos. Then cross over Kangpa-La Pass (5000 m) to arrive in Gyantse in the afternoon where visit Kumbum Pagoda also called 100-thousand-Bouddha's-pagoda as well as Pelkor Monastery famed with its splendid Buddhist Tibetan art, both of them were built in the 15th century. Afterwards drive to Shigatse, the second largest city with 40,000 inhabitants in Tibet. Day09 Shigatse - Lhasa 290 km 1N in 3*Shambala hotel B/L In the morning visit Tashilunpo monastery of Gelukpa sect, the seat of the Panchan Lamas and one of the six grand monasteries in Tibet region. In the monastery the biggest gilded statue of Maitreya (Bouddha of the future) in China is enshrined. In Tibet Buddism, Panchen Lama is just the embodiment of Maitreya Buddha. After this sightseeing return to Lhasa. Day10 Lhasa - Chengdu flight 0930/1115 SZ4402 1N in 3*Huayang Garden City hotel B/L Early in the morning transfer to Gongga airport for flying to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. After arrival Transfer to hotel. In the afternoon free. Day11 Chengdu - Guilin flight 3U361 in 1825/1945 2N in 3*Dangui hotel B/L In the morning visit Giant Panda Research Base in the northern suburb of Chengdu. After lunch visit Wenshu temple and relax yourself in a typical local teahouse there. Then transfer to airport for flying to Guilin. Characteristic of Guilin scenery is its oddly-shaped solitary hills rising out of flat ground. Day12 Guilin B/L After breakfast in Guilin, go sailing on the Lijiang River to Yangshuo. The Lijiang River is crystal clear, and no matter how deep the water is, the bottom - the pebbles, sand, and weeds can be seen. In the afternoon view Elephant-Trunk Peak named from its shape by the Lijiang River. On the way back Guilin, drive over the vast fertile plain which is formed by alluvial soil and limestone. Day13 Guilin - Chongqing flight SZ4342 in 2030/2140 3N in 3*cruise ship In the daytime free. In the evening transfer to the airport for flying to Chongqing. After arrival transfer to the harbor where the 3-star cruise ship parks. Day14 In Yangzi cruise B/L/D Sail on the Yangzi River to appreciate the marvelous Three Gorges. Day15 In Yangzi-cruise B/L/D Sail on the Yangzi River to appreciate the marvelous Three Gorges. Day16 Yichang-Wuhan-Shanghai flight MU5330 in 1815/1935 3N in 3*Jiulong hotel B/L In the morning arrive in Yichang and finish the cruise. Then drive by the highway to Wuhan, the industrial center and capital of Hubei province. In Wuhan visit the famous Yellow-Crane-Tower (Huang He Lou). In the afternoon transfer to airport for flying to Shanghai, the biggest city in China. After arrival transfer to hotel Day17 Shanghai: the whole day free. B Day18 Shanghai - Suzhou - Shanghai B/L In the morning take the train to Suzhou, which is known as the home of gardens and displays the most and the best private gardens in China. There visit Zhuozheng Yuan (the Humble Administrator's Garden), the biggest one in the city. This lush and distinct garden consists of lotus-ponds, pavilions, rockeries, winding bridges and paths, small hill, wooden tablet as well as brick carvings. Another sightseeing is Hu Qiu (Tiger Hill), three km to northwest of the city. Although a hill, it poses everything that the mountain of China should have, the rock, water, plants, a pagoda and several legends. Finally go sailing on the 1.800-kilometer-long Grand canal, which was opened in 605 BC for connecting Peking with Hangzhou. In the afternoon return Shanghai by train. Day19 Flight Shanghai - home B Today transfer to the airport for flying back home. End of the tour. |
